First Post: Bluford High, The Bully by Paul Langan (Chapter 1)

Hello, the name's Marquis Kennedy, and I'm here to talk about my experiences while reading through Paul Langan's The Bully. Chapter 1 starts with Darell Mercer (main character), and his old school friend, Malik taking one last walk together before Darell moves to California. Darell doesn't want to move, but he had no choice. His mom had just been laid off by her job, and now her brother, Jason, called and offered her a job that would pay more than what she has been paid. It was definitely a good deal for his mom, but not for Darell. He knew that it was a horrible time to move, since school had already started two months before, and he knew he wouldn't be able to fit in easily. The next morning, Darell and his mother had packed their suitcases, and boarded a bus. As the bus raced further from where they lived, Darell knew that the life he once had in Philadelphia, was only a cherished memory now.

Personal Thoughts: So far I am enjoying this book. It reminds of some of my friends back in Elementary school who had to move, but did not want to.
