In chapter 10, Darell goes to the dance and awaits Amberlynn's arrival. Jamee came toward him and started to speak to him. She tells him that Amberlynn felt really bad for what she said about to Tyray. Soon Amberlynn arrived and Darell asked her if she would like to dance. They began apologizing for things that have been done and said. He then started to feel nervous, told Amberlynn that he was going to talk to his friend and that he would be right back. Before he was able to get to his friend, he felt somebody grab him. It was Tyray's friend, Rodney. Darell knew that as long as Rodney was around, then Tyray would be as well. Darell started to feel waves of terror crawling within his body. Soon Tyray showed himself and pushed Darell into the school bathroom. "How much money did your momma give you tonight?" Tyray asked. Darell told him he didn't have any money on him. Tyray knew that he was lying, and asked him again. Darell reached into his pocket and gave him the little bit of change that he had. After that, Tyray and his friends tossed Darell into the huge trashcan, and left the bathroom. Darell struggled to get himself out of the trash can, tears starting to overwhelm his eyes. Darell hated the people in the school even more..
Personal Thoughts: It's sad to know that he was thrown into a dumpster. I can understand why he hated the people in the school for treating him like this.
