Second Post: Bluford High, The Bully by Paul Langan (Chapter 2)

Arriving at a roadside diner for lunch, a Mustang parked nearby. Loud rap music pumped through out the car's stereos, and exited out the open windows. While passing the Mustang, Darell looked at one of the people inside the car, and that person gave a glare to Darell. After their lunch was over, they decided to board the bus again to arrive at their next stop. As soon as they made their way to the exit of the bus, somebody yelled for Jackie, Darell's mother.
The voice belonged to Jackie's brother, Jason, and he proceeded to give them a ride to his house, which was the house they would be staying at. When they arrived, Darell noticed two children, the sons of Jason, Travis and Nate. Travis is nine years old, and Nate is six years old. Later on that evening, Darell thought he would walk down his new neighborhood and check it out, and so he did. While looking through one store's window, he noticed a group of people standing near a small sandwich shop. He thought maybe they were Bluford freshmen and decided to try to approach them and introduce himself. However, his plan backfired when he gave them a grin, before introducing. "What you laughin' at, fool?" the biggest boy called out. "You think we're funny or somethin'?" Darell quickly replied back and said no, but his legs were trembling with fear.
After nervously trying to introduce himself to the group, the group started to notice Darell's shaking, and started to laugh uncontrollably. The biggest kid asked, "You have any money on you, Darell Mercer?" Darell nervously asked why, but the boy struck back with a threat. "We thought you'd make us a loan, so we don't put your scrawny butt in that trash dumpster over there," said the boy.
Darell decided to go ahead and give them three dollars thinking that they would leave him alone. The big kid walked up to Darell, poked Darell's chest, and said, I'm Tyray Hobbs. I'm a freshman at Bluford, and I run things around here. Hear what I'm sayin'?" Darell nodded his head, being struck with terror, and tried to turn around to walk back home. However, just then, Tyray decided to trip him, causing Darell to fall on the ground." "Look at him shakin'," Tyray spoke.
After the fall he had taken, Tyray and his group started to walk away, while Darell brought himself to his feet, and dragged himself home. Darell knew one thing, the battle with Tyray hasn't ended yet, but was only the tragic beginning..
